Holiday Traditions|| Past, Present & Future

HolidayTradition.1.12.14

With the holiday season in full swing and having just purchased our first home, I’ve been thinking a lot about traditions and the way in which family traditions are created, passed down, and the joy they bring to the season. Today I thought I would share some of my childhood traditions, some of the traditions J & I have started together, and a few I would love to incorporate as our family grows.

Some of my fondest childhood memories include…

  • Opening || Holiday PJ sets on Christmas Eve
  • Watching || White Christmas & Its A Wonderful Life
  • Making || Ornaments & Filling the home with the scent of the season – cinnamon
  • Decorating || Two Trees – one in our home & one that is left outside and planted in our yard after the holidays
  • Reading || The Night Before Christmas

J & I have started to create our own family traditions…

  • Collecting || Each year we look for a ornament that reminds us of a place we’ve visited or a special event.
  • Hunting || Take a annual trip to a tree farm
  • Sending || Family holiday greeting cards to friends & family
  • Visiting || Taking time to enjoy the holiday sites around the city

A few traditions I am looking forward to incorporating in the years to come…

  • Giving || Looking for a local organization to pay it forward/give back
  • Baking || Spending a weekend day baking holiday cookies with family
  • Hosting || A favorite things event for all the special women in my life
  • Reliving || The magic of the season
  • Running || Finding a 5K to celebrate the season…

So tell me, what are some of your holiday traditions? Be sure to check out my holiday inspired pinterest page for additional holiday inspiration…
