black, white, & paisley

February 03 • Brunching in Old City – Carpenter’s Hall

As with most bloggers this season, I share in the “its almost to cold to even walk outside“. I too have struggled to find a good groove when all I can think to do is layer, layer, layer. Despite the #polarvortex, I pulled together this simple look for a easy Sunday morning.

After spending most of the weekend indoors, we ventured into the heart of old city to enjoy brunch, a highlight of our city weekends. We made a quick stop at Carpenter’s Hall, the site of the nation’s first continental congress, to take in some of the city’s history and enjoy the sunshine breaking through the frigid winter air. We then enjoyed a delicious brunch at FARMiCiA, where we shared the pumpkin pie french toast and a fresh omelette.

I love pairing this jcrew black and white button down with basics in my closet in an attempt to create new outfit combinations – with the hopes of bringing new life to my wardrobe. With the cold of winter I will certainly take all the layering I can get without feeling to stuffy. The vest helped to bring a patterned dimension to the outfit. Another favorite of mine is pairing pattern with pattern – its another fun way to create versatility with the pieces in your closet.

Tell me, how do you transform your basics? What patterns have you paired recently?

Outfit Details│ silver tee & vest (gifted:Talbots), jcrew button down (old), jeans (gap outlet; similar); fingerless gloves (H&M; similar)
